Until recently people with certain eye conditions could experience clear vision only by wearing eyeglasses. While there is certainly nothing wrong with wearing eyeglasses, many people prefer improving their vision with the freedom that contact lenses gives them. Our doctor at Heritage Eye Care helps our patients achieve their vision correction goals using Arlington contact lenses.

Our doctor prescribes and fits Arlington contact lenses for patients with a wide range of acuity problems as well as eye conditions. Today, patients suffering from almost any eye condition can use contact lenses due to the development of new lenses and greater accuracy of fit. Our optical shop has a full range of both soft and gas permeable contact lenses including specialized lenses. Among the eye conditions we can correct vision with contact lenses are keratoconus and dry eye. Keratoconus is an eye condition where the cornea becomes distorted when the center thins causing the edges to bulge. We use scieral contact lenses to help people who haven’t responded to other treatments for this cornea condition. A scleral lens differs from a standard contact lens — it’s larger and rests atop a layer of tissue over the white part of the eye (sclera). A fluid barrier keeps the scleral lens from touching the cornea. The lack of contact between the back of the scleral lens and the cornea reduces pain; the spherical front surface of the lens improves vision.

Dry eye is a common condition that occurs when your tears aren’t able to provide adequate lubrication for your eyes. Arlington contact lenses can help dry eye sufferers. Several manufacturers have developed soft contact lenses specifically designed to reduce dry eye discomfort during lens wear. These lenses have a higher water density and aid in keeping eyes lubricated. Scieral lenses can also help dry eye patients. Come to our office and see if contact lenses can improve your vision no matter what condition you suffer from.
